Mendoza City is the gateway into the Mendoza Province set with the backdrop of the Andes Mountains and leading to fertile valleys which have become known as the Wine Region of Argentina. It is a very popular destination with tourists and one that should be visited by people who are interested in wine, good food and spectacular scenery. There are many vineyards, some very close to the City of Mendoza, many in Maipu and a great number in Lujan de Cuyo. Tupungato and Tunuyan, San Carlos and then south in the City of San Rafael situated in the center of the Province. The Province of Mendoza promotes its wine industry and visits to vineyards, but it offers many other activities to suit every level of fitness.
