PAMPAS RANCHES
An hour away from Buenos Aires there are huge grasslands known as the pampas, the family-owned estancias, often working farms, ranches or grand country estates. This is the territory of the gaucho (horseman or cowboy) the perfect embodiment of Argentine rural culture and history. Today on the estancias it is possible to participate in modern gaucho life with riding, roping, rodeo and traditional asado barbecues in the fields. Many also offer trekking, polo and polo tuition, birdwatching or just relaxing by the pool in an often historic environment.
